Once a Ponce a Time
A tribute to my 8 year old daughter, this sideboard cabinet is constructed of solid Walnut and Zebrawood with 24K gold leafing.
The Tree of Life door design is of Celtic origin, and I added a number of design inspirations from "The Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings."
Preciousss
Christmas break 2021 will always be memorable because my family watched the entire Hobbit and Lord of the RIngs series of movies, just as I was planning the sideboard design. My daughter LOVED it.
Most people probably don't notice the beautiful woodwork at Bilbo Baggins house, but it's all I could see.
The font in this piece is from The Hobbit, and the Flag of Gondor provided inspiration for the tree and gold leafed stars.
And of course how can you do a Hobbit piece without Preciousss, which I incorporated into the door pull.
Features
"Once a Ponce a Time" is a fully original design. Features include highly crafted Zebrawood legs, custom carved door, 24K gold leaf, knife hinges that allow the door to open 180 degrees, a solid 1 .6" thick Zebrawood floating top, an exquisitely designed door pull, and a premium ball catch that provides a very satisfying click when the door is opened and closed.
Walnut and Zebrawood:
A Stunning Combination
This Zebrawood was an impulse purchase more than a year ago when I was shopping for another project. The figure is absolutely beautiful, and it pairs exceptionally well with Walnut.
