The Vault

I made this box because I wanted a nice, purpose-built place to store my Cold Card and other hardware wallets, and also wanted to make something for some family members.

The box measures 11" x 7" x 4.03" tall, and because it was purpose-built to store my Cold Card, the inner dimensions are specifically sized to ensure the Cold Card Q (to be released later this year) will fit nicely in the upper tray.

I made eight of these boxes, each in a different species of wood. Check out the pictures below, with each of the 8 boxes featured.

This box is modeled after the beautiful design of woodworker Michael Hamilton.

These boxes all feature spectacular Ink-Line Spalted Maple Burl as accent inserts on the lids. The lid pulls are made of Ebony, one of the most prized woods in the world. All four box sides feature a two-way taper and are joined with mitered corners that are reinforced with Walnut splines. The lid sits inside the box, with a hidden hinge. The front of the box has a carved recess for easy opening. The inside of the box is divided into sections with a tray resting on top. The bottom of the box is lined with Ultrasuede.
