Just Breathe
For my wife and best friend, the world's finest cheval mirror. Crafted of American Walnut and Cherry.
I modeled this piece after the early 20th century Limbert cheval mirror, with some enhancements of course!
This is a full size, large mirror measuring 73.6 inches tall and 33.25 inches wide.
A Solid Foundation
The base structure is extremely strong and designed to last. It is constructed with through tenons, which are wedged through the legs with Maple wedges.
It is designed to provide generations of service supporting this very heavy mirror.
Baby Got Back
I decided to soften the piece with a fabric back panel. Love this.
Finer Points
The mirror's support prongs feature a 3-way taper, with the only straight edge running parallel to the frame of the mirror.
The mirror hardware sits in a recessed and tapered channel for visual interest. It's hard to see in the pictures but is a really nice feature.
The mirror itself is meticulously balanced to ensure it can be held at any angle with a snug tightening of the screw. The mirror is balanced with just slightly more weight at the bottom to ensure it defaults to an upright position.
